Mourinho not willing to break the bank for James Rodriguez
Despite James Rodriguez's desire to come to Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho does not want to break the bank for the midfielder and Florentino Perez is also unwilling to lower his asking price.
James Rodriguez has endured a difficult season for Real Madrid, starting only 10 times under manager Zinedine Zidane. He has moved down the pecking order at the Bernabeu, losing his place to Isco, Marco Asensio, and even Lucas Vazquez.
According to Spanish newspaper Diario Gol, the midfielder is desperate to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United but Florentino Perez's reluctance to lower his asking price is proving to be a major stumbling block.
The report stated that Perez wants no less than €60 million for the Colombian midfielder and does not want to lower that asking price as it would serve as too big of a loss for the €80 million paid to Monaco to sign him back in 2014.
However, Manchester United are not willing to go beyond €40 million as Mourinho does not think a price tag higher than that is justified. Inter Milan are also reported to be unwilling to go beyond €42 million for the Colombian's services.
Perez's decision is said to have angered Rodriguez and the agent of the player will reportedly have a meeting with Perez to hash out a deal which would be beneficial to both the player and club.
