Arsenal plan £250k a week deal for French striker
Arsenal are prepared to tempt Alexandre Lacazette ahead of the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool by offering him a club-record £250,000-a-week package.
The north London giants have already broken their wage structure with new signing Sead Kolasinac having surpassed Alexis Sanchez (£140,000-a-week) as the highest-paid player.
According to The Sun, Arsenal Wenger was with chief Ivan Gazidis in the south of France where they discussed a £50m deal with Les Gones representatives.
Lacazette was initially keen on a move to Atletico Madrid in order to link up with Antoine Griezmann, but their failure to overturn the transfer embargo has urged the striker to look elsewhere.
The 37-goal striker hinted on Tuesday that he could join an elite club regardless of their European status, provided he manages to earn a regular run in the starting lineup.
As a result, the Gunners are back in the hunt for the France international with Wenger prepared the break the £200,000-a-week barrier to sign his compatriot.
Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have been offered deals in a similar £250,000-a-week structure, but the club are yet to update on their progress.
