Szczesny's proposed move to Juventus is close to completion after the Pole was left out of Arsenal's squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and China.

The Pole had a terrific season on loan at Roma, finishing the league with the most number of clean sheets at 14. He recorded some stunning statistics as well, averaging up to 2.45 saves per game, having a 91 percent claim success rate and 80 percent distribution success rate.

His performances have been so impressive that rival club Juventus, who Roma finished runners-up against, want to bring the Pole to Turin and have identified him as the heir to club legend Gianluigi Buffon.

Buffon himself approved of Juventus' decision to invest in Szczesny last month, saying: "I think it's an intelligent marriage between the strongest club and the one who was the strongest goalkeeper last year."

Arsenal recently rejected a €4.5 million bid for their goalkeeper, who has a year left on his contract with the North London club.

However, the Pole was left out of Arsenal's squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and China. According to Italian news outlet Football Italia, Szczesny is close to completing his deal to Juventus.

The Italian champions are believed to have agreed to pay Arsenal the €18 million they are demanding for the 27-year-old. Szczesny will take an understudy role to Buffon next season and will take over him fully after the club legend retires in 2018.
