Inter Milan plotting bid for Arsenal contract rebel
Inter Milan could reportedly lodge an attempt to sign Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil in the New Year. The Germany international has just nine months left on his present deal, and he is said to be reluctant to extend his contract beyond June next year.
According to Italian outlet TMW, the Gunners have given up on their quest to keep Ozil, who snubbed a £165,000-a-week offer earlier in January.
It is added that Inter Milan are keeping tabs on the World Cup, and could seek to pursue him on a cut-price deal during the winter transfer window.
Arsene Wenger currently faces a similar situation with Alexis Sanchez's contract, and they could be tempted to cash in one of their star pairing in January in order to avoid a significant loss.
Ozil, 28, joined Arsenal from Real Madrid for £42m in 2013, and has since contributed 32 goals and 57 assists across all competitions for the north London giants.
