Raheem Sterling to earn new Manchester City contract
Raheem Sterling to earn new Manchester City contract
England international Raheem Sterling will reportedly be rewarded with a fresh contract at Manchester City following his excellent form during the ongoing campaign.
The 22-year-old winger has been central to Pep Guardiola's plan this term and has notched five goals in just five league games - including a brace in the 5-0 thumping of Crystal Palace on Saturday.
According to The Star, Sterling is in line for an extension which will prolong his stay beyond the summer of 2020. The Englishman could have joined Arsenal in a player-plus-cash deal for Alexis Sanchez over the summer, but Guardiola snubbed the advances - as he backed the potential of Sterling.
Apart from Sterling, the likes of David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus are also expected to hold contract talks in the coming weeks. Sterling is expected to feature in Manchester City's Champions League outing against Shakhtar Donetsk tonight before tackling Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
