Man City Injury Update: Chelsea vs Manchester City

Mendy, Kompany unlikely to feature against Chelsea

Premier League leaders Manchester City will reportedly be without two key defenders ahead of Saturday's crunch encounter against Chelsea.

The Citizens have been in splendid form since the start of the campaign, and they occupy the top position on the table with 16 points from six games.

City have won their last three league games by a margin of five or more goals, but they will expect a tougher test this week with Chelsea back in form.

Antonio Conte's side suffered a minor stutter during their opening-day setback to Burnley, but they have since recovered with an unbeaten run which has included four victories.

Injury News:

The Citizens look certain to be without Benjamin Mendy after the City medical team assessed his knee injury in Barcelona earlier this week.

The Frenchman is said to have suffered a long-term injury as per Yahoo Sport, and he is likely to remain sidelined until the turn of the year.

In his absence, Danilo is a likely candidate to play at left-back having played no part in the 2-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Other than that, captain Vincent Kompany is most likely to miss out on the game as he is still short of fitness following his recovery from a calf issue.

Ilkay Gundogan, however, could make the substitutes' bench after he overcame his recent knock in the League Cup to make a late appearance in Ukraine.

Update: Sergio Aguero has fractured his ribs following a car accident in Amsterdam, and he could miss up to eight weeks of first-team football.
