Jose Mourinho held transfer talks with Chelsea midfielder
Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho reportedly made contact with Cesc Fabregas following his side's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend.
The Spain international was hugely influential in the Premier League clash on Sunday as he dominated the likes of Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic at the heart of the midfield.
As a result, Mourinho was suitably impressed by the Spaniard's showing, and he personally approached the 30-year-old over a potential move to Old Trafford, Don Balon claims.
United held a keen interest in Fabregas during David Moyes' reign in 2013, but the move could not materialise as the midfielder opted to stay at Barcelona for an extra year.
Fabregas, however, returned to the top-flight at Chelsea under Mourinho where the pair celebrated Premier League success during the 2014/15 season.
Despite the speculation, Fabregas appears keen to stay put in west London after having won a second league title, while he continues to command a regular role under Antonio Conte.
The likes of Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini have struggled with injuries in the early part of the season, and this has hampered United, who lost their way in the month of October.
Manchester United are currently positioned second in the Premier League standings with 23 points, eight adrift of arch-rivals Manchester City, who are top of the summit.
