Liverpool to receive injury boost prior to Southampton clash
England international Adam Lallana could make a return from a thigh problem when Liverpool take on his former club Southampton after the international break.
The 29-year-old has played no part for the Reds this term after he suffered the injury during the pre-season defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Audi Cup.
According to The Telegraph, Lallana is working his way to full fitness and he is on course to make a comeback this month in a friendly behind-closed-doors.
Fellow compatriots James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also due to participate in the game with Jurgen Klopp keen to maintain their fitness for the upcoming festive schedule.
Should Lallana go unscathed, he could be named on the substitutes' bench when the Reds make the visit to the South Coast to face Southampton a week on Saturday.
Liverpool are currently placed fifth in the Premier League standings with 19 points after back-to-back wins over Huddersfield Town and West Ham United.
