Roy Keane: Eden Hazard is way behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United legend-turned-pundit Roy Keane believes Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard is way behind the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as he does not possess the consistency over an extended period of games.
The Belgium international struggled to make an impact during the 4-1 aggregate defeat to Barcelona in the round of 16 Champions League stage whereas Messi contributed three goals to fire his side to the quarter-finals.
Speaking on ITV Sport, Keane stressed that Hazard has 'too many off days' and this puts him way behind Messi and Ronaldo, who are genuine match-winners for their respective clubs, week in and week out.
"He can be very, very good but to me there are just too many off days where he's just not up to it. If you're trying to compare him to Messi - he's way behind him," he told ITV Sport.
"Messi and Ronaldo have been doing it year after year. They always seem to be fit. They play 50 or 60 games a season and they produce week in, week out. These other players that we are talking about don't."
While most of the attention was on Hazard, Willian stole the show during the first-leg of the Barcelona tie, in particular, where he found the scoresheet and hit the woodwork on two other occasions.
Chelsea played with a similar intensity after they fell behind at the Camp Nou, but they lacked the cutting edge in front of goal, which eventually saw them bow out of the European competition for the season.
