Conte keeping faith in Chelsea midfielder Drinkwater
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has told reporters that they will have to wait some more time to see the best of midfielder Danny Drinkwater. The former Leicester City man arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer and has failed to dislodge the likes of Fabregas at the club, partially because of continued injury worries.
Drinkwater had been a revelation during his spell with Leicester City, leading the Foxes to the Premier League title. However since moving to Antonio Conte's side, Drinkwater has failed to reproduce the form that made him a regular first teamer for England's national team.
Chelsea are to guarantee Drinkwater some extra first-team football as he recuperates from injury.
Antonio Conte defended Drinkwater, telling the press: “Danny is having an unlucky season. He started this season with a problem in his calf, then he continued to have problems.
“Now he is struggling with a problem in the groin. We are talking about a good midfielder, a good player. I trust him.”
