Liverpool to reward goalkeeper with an improved contract
Liverpool are reportedly planning to reward goalkeeper Loris Karius with a salary increase following his promising performances in the second half of the campaign.
The former Mainz 05 shot-stopper struggled to adapt to Premier League football during his opening 18 months, but he has managed to depose Simon Mignolet from the number one position.
According to The Sun, Karius' upturn in form is likely to see him rewarded with a decent increase on his £50,000-a-week wages, though it may not extend his contract, which is only due to expire in June 2021.
Regardless of this, the Reds are likely to pursue a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window and Stoke City's Jack Butland has been identified as the probable competitor for Karius next term.
Roma's Alisson has also been linked with the Merseyside outfit, but his £80m valuation may put off Liverpool from lodging an approach during the summer transfer window.
