Olivier Giroud reacts after Chelsea win, pays tribute to Arsene Wenger
France international Olivier Giroud was pleased to have scored the winner during Chelsea's 1-0 Premier League triumph over Liverpool on Sunday.
The Blues went into the game in a potentially must-win situation and the victory over the Reds now sees them within two points off the final Champions League spot.
Speaking after the game, Giroud was delighted to have contributed another goal in the club's top-four push whilst he also paid tribute to his former manager, who is bowing out of Arsenal at the end of the season.
"Arsene Wenger deserves a great tribute for all he has achieved in his Arsenal career. I hope he finds a new challenge too, because I know he is still hungry to win competitions. I just want to pay tribute to him," he is quoted as saying by Metro.
Chelsea have another two games left in the Premier League campaign and their chances of finishing fourth remain realistic with both Liverpool and Tottenham dropping points in the gameweek.
They could go level with Liverpool on points with a midweek win over Huddersfield Town and the final two Champions League spots could be decided next weekend.
