Unai Emery reveals his admiration for Mesut Ozil

Unai Emery has praised Mesut Ozil as 'one of the biggest talents' at Arsenal shortly after being officially appointed as their new head coach.

The 46-year-old has been picked to succeed Arsene Wenger as the next Gunners boss and his initial task lies on guiding the club back to Champions League football.

Speaking to reporters, Emery was pleased to have been given the opportunity to manage the Gunners and he is particularly excited at working with Ozil, who has spent five seasons at the Emirates.

"He's [Ozil] one of the biggest talents here at Arsenal and I want talented players here. I want to spend time with him and with all the players. I want to speak to him on a level.

"I want to speak to him about how excited I am to be here. I want all the players to feel that. This is an exciting project and we all have to give 100 percent."

Ozil has come under criticism for his average displays against some of the elite clubs and this is something Emery may look to resolve during his managerial reign.

The World Cup winner missed a number of matches through illness in the 2017/18 season but he still scored four goals and set up eight more in 26 top-flight games.
