Arsenal failed with late approach for Fabinho
Arsenal reportedly made a late attempt to hijack Fabinho's switch to Liverpool. The Brazil international penned a long-term contract with the Reds on Monday after they agreed on a package worth £43.7m with AS Monaco.
According to Sky Sports News, the Gunners had tried to convince Fabinho to join the club at the 11th hour but the 24-year-old chose to stick with his original plan of joining Jurgen Klopp's side.
Unlike the Gunners, Liverpool are assured of their participation in next season's Champions League and this is understood to be among the prime reasons behind the midfielder snubbing the north London side.
Fabinho's arrival at Anfield is expected to coincide with Emre Can's departure after the German decided against extending his deal beyond the 2017/18 season.
Juventus have already made contact with Can regarding a long-term deal and the German is due to finalise his Bosman move to the Bianconeri in the next few days.
