Ashley Young praises Rashford ahead of the World Cup

Manchester United defender Ashley has hailed his fellow United and England teammate Marcus Rashford ahead of the FIFA World Cup beginning in Russia in June.

Young believes that Rashford, 20, will be a major performer for an England side that have performed poorly in recent international tournaments.

"It's the World Cup and it could be his stage to show everybody how far he's come since his debut," said Young, BBC reports.

"He produces at United and will be a major player for us at the World Cup."

The quick winger scored 7 goals in the Premier League last season and has a total of 17 goals in 78 games in his Premier League career.

In previous World Cups, the English team had placed their hope on former United attacker Wayne Rooney. With Rooney now an ex-international, Gareth Southgate will be looking up to Tottenham striker Harry Kane to get the goals.

England will be parading a young team, but they are not touted as favourites to win the event in Russia. England are in group G of this summer's World Cup alongside Tunisia, Belgium and Panama.

The Three Lions will face Tunisia in their first game on June 14, a game they are expected to win.
