Everton to return for Patrick van Aanholt?

Everton are reportedly considering a fresh attempt to sign left-back Patrick van Aanholt from Crystal Palace. The Dutchman enjoyed his best top-flight season last term with five goals scored in 28 appearances.
The 27-year-old had been associated with a move to Goodison Park during Sam Allardyce's time in charge after the pair previously worked together at Sunderland and Palace.
Allardyce has since parted ways with the Toffees but regardless of this, the club are maintaining their interest in Van Aanholt as they seek to replace Leighton Baines in the lineup, The Mail claims.
Everton's new director of football Marcel Brands has been particularly impressed with the left-back's confidence whilst moving forward and he is said to perfectly fit the club's requirements.
Van Aanholt has racked over 100 top-flight appearances after appearing for the likes of Chelsea, Wigan Athletic, Sunderland alongside Palace. He has also made his name with the Dutch national team with seven caps to date.
