West Ham United to re-sign Dimitri Payet?

West Ham United have reportedly been offered the chance to re-sign Dimitri Payet from French club Marseille this summer.

The France international was a fan favourite during his time in east London but he was subject of huge criticism from the same supporters after he pushed through a return to Marseille in the winter of 2017.

Since then, Payet has maintained his performance levels with Les Phoceens but the Ligue 1 club are mulling over his sale as they are allegedly in need of funds to balance their financial books.

According to The Guardian, the Hammers have now been offered the opportunity to re-acquire the Frenchman's services but it is yet to be seen whether they will make an offer.

New boss Manuel Pellegrini is expected to seek advice from the club's hierarchy and senior players regarding the Frenchman and it will be interesting to see whether they will match the £25m fee - Marseille paid for his signature.
