Arsenal confirm signing of French midfielder
Arsenal have announced the capture of Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient for a reported fee of around £7m. The Frenchman becomes the club's fifth senior recruit of the summer transfer window and is expected to feature in the first-team next season.
Since the departure of Arsene Wenger, Arsenal have been proactive in the transfer market and the signing of Guendouzi has taken their spending to over £70m without selling off any of their outcasts.
"We are delighted Matteo is joining us. He is a talented young player and a lot of clubs were interested in him. He wants to learn and improve and will be an important part of our first-team squad." Emery told the club's official website.
BBC's David Ornstein has recently hinted that Guendouzi may be the club's final recruit of the ongoing transfer window but things could change in the coming weeks with the exits of Joel Campbell and David Ospina likely to provide additional funds.
Sevilla's Steven N'Zonzi has been one who has been regularly linked with a reunion with Emery but it remains unclear whether the club require another midfielder after the arrivals of Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.
