Chelsea are planning to bring Manchester United winger Anthony Martial to Stamford Bridge, according to The Sunday Times.

Chelsea are hoping to land the Frenchman in order to make him a replacement for Eden Hazard, who could be on his way to Real Madrid.

Martial has a year left on his contract but has not been able to agree an extension with United. United have the option to extend his contract by an additional year and could do that as they remain unwilling to sell the former Monaco man.

Negotiations have dragged on for months without a conclusion, prompting the player's agent to say that Jose Mourinho's side are not willing to make him an important player. Martial is currently on pre-season tour with United in the US.

Bayern Munich are also interested in bringing Martial to the Allianz Arena with the likes of Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben nearing the end of their careers.

Chelsea and Bayern may yet be unable to sign the winger because United value him at £89.3m, a price that may be too much for a player of Martial's calibre at the moment.
