Chelsea lead race to sign Maurizio Sarri favourite
Chelsea are reportedly leading AC Milan in the race to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus during the ongoing transfer window.
Higuain has been a strong performer for the Bianconeri over the past couple of seasons but his future has become uncertain even since the record signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to The Mirror, the Blues have offered the Argentine with a weekly package of £120,000-a-week which is £40,000 more than what the Rossoneri are prepared to agree upon.
It is added that Maurizio Sarri is keen to reunite with his former Napoli striker at the earliest possibility in order to help him gel with his new teammates ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Chelsea are yet to finalise a fee for the former Real Madrid youngster but widespread reports have suggest that a deal of around £53m could be finalised before next month's transfer deadline.
Should the move go through, the Blues may consider the sale of Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, who has been linked with a possible return to the Serie A with the Rossoneri.
