Arsenal receive key injury boost for Manchester City clash
Arsenal have received a timely boost for the season opener against Manchester City with midfielder Aaron Ramsey in contention to feature.
The Wales international missed the final two pre-season friendlies for the Gunners after sustaining a minor calf problem which Unai Emery was cautious about.
However, according to Evening Standard, the Welshman could make his injury comeback against the reigning champions after reporting to first-team training earlier in the week.
Aside from Ramsey, Emery may have to make a key decision on whether to start Lucas Torreira with the Uruguayan appearing to lack sufficient match fitness in the final pre-season friendly versus Lazio.
Ramsey's present deal with the north London club expires in the summer of 2019 but the club remain optimistic that they can strike a new deal with the midfielder in the coming weeks.
Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign with a Sunday fixture against Manchester City. Thereafter, they have another tough challenge as they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
