Schalke 04 not keen on signing Chelsea midfielder

German side Schalke 04 are reportedly not in the running to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea this month.

The Bundesliga outfit have recently been linked with the England international as they seek to strengthen their squad for Champions League football next term.

A recent report from Bild suggested that Schalke could pursue a season-long loan for Loftus-Cheek as they attempt to bolster their options in the centre of the park.

However, according to Sky Sports News, this does not appear the case with the Gelsenkirchen outfit not looking to sign a central midfielder before the end of the month.

It is added that the German club are not interested in any loan deals before the transfer deadline and their sole focus remains on signing a new left-back for a fee of around £6.5m.

Tottenham Hotspur's Danny Rose has also been linked with Schalke 04 in recent weeks but Spurs' hefty £50m valuation has put them off from making an approach.
