Shkodran Mustafi heaps praise on Leno

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has praised the attributes of goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who joined the Gunners from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

The 26-year-old was fancied to place Petr Cech between the sticks at the start of the campaign but he has surprisingly found himself playing second fiddle to the veteran shot-stopper.

Despite this, Mustafi has been pleased with the arrival of compatriot and close friend Leno and he has praised his qualities which may come into display in the forthcoming games.

"I know Bernd very well because we played together since the Under-15s German team, so I have known him for a long time. He is a brilliant goalkeeper. He has everything a modern keeper needs: good feet, good hands and he has personality," he said via Evening Standard.

Based on Unai Emery's recent comments, Cech appears unlikely to be dislodged from the goalkeeping position in the near future but things could change in the coming weeks, should the 36-year-old make some sort of blunder in goal.

Cech was particularly guilty of making unwanted mistakes on the road last term which cost the Gunners in the form of points but so far, he has looked much more assured, though he has yet to convince the club's faithful with his passing attributes.
