Eden Hazard reacts to Chelsea's victory over Newcastle
Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has praised his side for their fighting spirit in their 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.
After a goalless first half, Hazard opened the scoring for the Blues via a penalty in the 76th minute. Joselu equalised for Newcastle seven minutes from time.
Chelsea did not let the equaliser deter them as they pushed and got the winner in the 87th minute through a Marcos Alonso strike that came off DeAndre Yedlin.
"Everyone was thinking to draw when they scored but we are Chelsea and we never give up. We did well, created a lot of chances and we deserved to win," Hazard said, the BBC reports.
According to OptaJoe, Hazard's goal is his 70th in the Premier League for Chelsea. With that strike, he is now the Blues' third highest goal scorer in the Premier League, behind Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard who have 104 and 147 respectively.
Maurizio Sarri's men are now level on points with Watford and Liverpool at the top of the table, but are second based on goals difference. Chelsea will face Bournemouth in their next Premier League game on the 1st of September.
