The reason Mina snubbed Manchester United revealed

Everton defender Yerry Mina snubbed a move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window because of a call from Toffees' boss Marco Silva, the Sun reports.

Prior to the completion of his move to Everton on deadline day, Silva called the Colombian defender while United's Jose Mourinho did not.

This convinced the World Cup star to snub a move to Manchester United in favour of Everton where he signed a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.

During the summer transfer window in England, there were reports that a move to United broke down due to a row over his agent's fees.

Mourinho has lamented over a lack of central defensive signings, but it appears he did not go a step further to land Mina, unlike Marco Silva.

Mina is yet to feature for Everton who have six points from four Premier League games this season.

United are still with the same central defenders from last term, but kept their first clean sheet of the season in a 2-0 win over Burnley on Sunday.
