Liverpool legend urges Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United
Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher believes Marcus Rashford should part ways with Manchester United, if he is to establish himself as a frontline striker.
The youngster has made great strides with United since his debut in February 2016 but he still remains a regular substitute under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Carragher indicated that Rashford is unlikely to displace Romelu Lukaku for the centre-forward role and he may have to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere to realise his ambition of starting regularly upfront.
"Romelu Lukaku is in front of Rashford and I don't see Rashford displacing him as long as he is there," he said. "But remember when Lukaku was at Chelsea and he had to come away and go to Everton. Does he [Rashford] have to leave United? I think so."
Rashford has made just one start for United since the start of the season but he has nevertheless got the backing of England boss Gareth Southgate, who recently picked him for the internationals versus Spain and Switzerland.
The 20-year-old opened the scoring during the 2-1 Nations League defeat to Spain and he continued his good form in the friendly against the Swiss, where he bagged the only goal of the game.
