Klopp provides vague Van Dijk injury update ahead of Chelsea game
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided a vague injury update for defender Virgil van Dijk ahead of his side's clash against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
Klopp refused to confirm if the player is fit or not, but said that the Dutchman will feature if he is fit.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game at Stamford Bridge, he said, Liverpool Echo reports: “If Virgil is fit, he plays. If not, then obviously we have options.”
The central defender sustained an injury in Liverpool's 3-0 win over his former side Southampton last Saturday, and missed the Reds' League Cup loss to Chelsea on Wednesday.
Van Dijk has been a rock in the centre of Liverpool's defence this season, helping them achieve their current perfect record in the Premier League this term.
He would be greatly missed should he not be fit enough to face Maurizio Sarri's side this weekend.
Liverpool are currently the only side with a perfect record in the Premier League this term.
