Arsenal boss reacts to Bernd Leno's performance versus Wolves
Arsenal manager Unai Emery singled Bernd Leno for praise after the goalkeeper helped the side to secure a point against Wolverhampton Wanderers.on Sunday.
The Gunners were second-best against the Wolves for vast parts of the Premier League game but Leno made a string of saves including a late one against Adama Traore to save their blushes in a 1-1 draw.
Speaking after the game, Emery was impressed with the showing of the Germany international, who single-handedly kept the Gunners in a match where their outfield play was poor.
"We knew that today we needed the goalkeeper with his performance, because when we are taking risks in our attacking moments, and to give them a transition and options in the transitional moments we would need the goalkeeper. Today I thought his performance was good for us," he said.
With the outcome, Arsenal have now played out three successive league draws and this has seen them drop three points behind arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who hold the final Champions League spot.
Following the international break, the Gunners have a testing trip to Bournemouth in the league and their challenge does not get any easier thereafter with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United to come.
