Cahill not on AC Milan radar

AC Milan have reportedly snubbed the chance to sign Chelsea captain Gary Cahill when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The former England international has fallen down the pecking order under new boss Maurizio Sarri this term and he has yet to make a Premier League start for the Blues.

Amidst this, he has been fancied to make the switch to the Rossoneri alongside teammate Cesc Fabregas in the New Year but according to Calciomercato, that may not be the case.

The Milan giants currently find themselves in a defensive crisis with Mattia Caldara and Alessio Romagnoli on the sidelines but they are said to prefer a younger recruit to bolster their backline.

Nonetheless, the veteran defender could still part ways with the Blues in the winter transfer window with his existing contract scheduled to expire at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Cahill has featured nearly 300 times for the Blues in all competitions since joining them from Bolton Wanderers eight years ago. He has made just one substitute league appearance this term.
