Maurizio Sarri reacts after Chelsea's defeat at Wolves
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has suggested that the overconfidence from his players may have influenced the disappointing Premier League result at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.
The Blues managed to secure an early lead in the first period after Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring but they could sustain the advantage for the entire 90 minutes with Wolves lodging a stunning second half comeback to seal a 2-1 triumph.
Speaking after the game, Sarri admitted that the players are likely to be disappointed with the result but believes some of them were too confident in the lead up to the encounter.
"Of course, after this match we lost confidence but maybe it is better because sometimes my players show me they have too much confidence," he told Sky Sports.
With the defeat, the Blues have now dropped to fourth in the standings and they are ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal by virtue of only goal difference. They are scheduled to entertain leaders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in their next league meeting.
