Sanchez's future with United appears bleak - Ferdinand

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has said that Alexis Sanchez's career with the Red Devils could be finished following the latest injury setback against Southampton.

The Chile international picked up a knee injury during the recent Premier League clash against Southampton and it has now been confirmed that he could be sidelined between six to eight weeks.

Speaking to Goal.com, Ferdinand said that the Chilean has been a strong competitor over the years but believes the attacker's future with United looks bleak after the recent setback.

"There are a lot of miles on the clock. That's one big thing, he has played a lot of games at the top level There is no doubting he is a fantastic footballer, but at Man United, it just doesn't seem to be working at the moment," he toldĀ Goal.com.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand heaped praise on interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the Norwegian having helped likes of Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, and Victor Lindelof improve on their performances unlike Sanchez.

Sanchez has more than three years remaining on his existing deal with Manchester United but it would come as a surprise, if the attacker stays put with the club beyond the current campaign.
