Manchester City are reportedly planning an approach to sign Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus during this summer's transfer window.

The Citizens are said to be eyeing a new central defender ahead of the 2019/2020 campaign following the departure of Vincent Kompany.

Leicester City's Harry Maguire has been linked with the club in the past few weeks but it is thought that they are unwilling to match the £90m price tag quoted by the Foxes.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Citizens have now switched their attention towards signing Bonucci, who could be permitted to leave Juventus after the arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt, Merih Demiral and Cristian Romero.

The central defender had the option of joining the Premier League holders from the Bianconeri three years ago, but he declined the opportunity citing the ill-health of his son.

Bonucci thereafter made the switch to league rivals AC Milan in 2017, only to return to Turin after a single campaign. He has won seven league titles during a glittering career with the Bianconeri.
