Chelsea make transfer decision on Danny Drinkwater
England international Danny Drinkwater is set to stay with Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window, considering the club have not received any suitable offers.
The midfielder has made just 23 appearances since making the switch from Leicester City in 2017 and just one of those came during the previous campaign.
According to Evening Standard, Lampard had been eager to offload the midfielder on a permanent basis this summer, but there have been no concrete offers from the player's suitors.
The Blues still have the option of loaning out the 29-year-old for the season but reports indicate that he may now remain at Stamford Bridge until January at the least.
Drinkwater has featured in the pre-season games under Lampard this term, but there are no assurances of regular gametime when the real season begins next month.
Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign with a challenging trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on August 11. Three days later, they have a UEFA Super Cup clash against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.
