Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac will miss Newcastle United clash
Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are set to miss Arsenal's league opener against Newcastle United with the police wanting to investigate further security incidents with the pair.
The Gunners duo were involved in a car-jacking situation few weeks ago where a video emerged of Sead Kolasinac confronting the offenders after they approached Ozil's vehicle.
Thereafter, the pair were excluded from a couple of pre-season games against Lyon and Angers, but they made a comeback for the final friendly at Barcelona.
As such, it was predicted that they should make the starting lineup against the Magpies on Sunday, but that won't be the case following a statement released by the north London giants.
“Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac will not be part of the squad for our opening match against Newcastle United following further security incidents which are being investigated by the police,” it read.
In the absence of Ozil, one of Henrikh Mkhitaryan or Dani Ceballos could get the nod to feature in the number 10 role when the Gunners make the trip to Tyneside.
Elsewhere, Nacho Monreal is expected to feature on the left side of the defence with summer signing Kieran Tierney out of action for another six weeks at the least following a double hernia operation.
