Bayern Munich reach agreement to sign Philippe Coutinho
Bayern Munich have won the race to sign Philippe Coutinho on a season-long loan move from Spanish giants Barcelona.
Coutinho's future has been a discussion point over the course of the summer and he was recently touted to make a return to the Premier League before the English transfer deadline.
When that failed to materialise, it was reported that the Brazilian could head to Paris Saint-Germain as part of the swap deal involving compatriot Neymar, but he has rejected that option to join the German champions.
According to Sky Italy's Fabrizio Romano, the former Liverpool man rebuffed the chance to join Les Parisiens in exchange for Neymar and that has paved the way for a move to Bayern.
Blaugrana director Guillermo Amor has confirmed that the 27-year-old will join the Bavarian giants on a year-long loan and it remains to be seen whether they have the option to buy next summer.
Coutinho is set to become Bayern's second attacking addition of the week following the arrival of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. Perisic likewise joined the club on a temporary basis.
