Bayern Munich and former France international Franck Ribery has found a new club after being released by the German champions, electing to move to Serie A and join the Viola. Fiorentina have signed Ribery on a two year contract.

The 36-year-old had a successful trophy-laden spell with Bayern before opting to leave the club, and has linked up with his former Bayern Munich team-mate Luca Toni at the club.

The Frenchman is considered, alongside Arjen Robben, to be one of the best attacking players in Bundesliga history and has decided to continue playing football, unlike his Dutch counterpart Robben.

It is expected that Ribery will mentor Federico Chiesa, the 21-year-old attacking starlet at Fiorentina, to eventually take over the Frenchman's place at the club.

On sealing his move, Ribery took to Twitter to make the announcement: "A new chapter for me and my family is beginning. Blessed and happy to sign a new contract at a great club in a great city.  Looking forward to the future with my new teammates and all the fantastic fans here."
