Nacho Monreal exits Arsenal
Arsenal cult hero Nacho Monreal is to depart the club this weekend, after the Gunners and Real Sociedad agreed a fee of around 250,000 euros for the player. Monreal, 33, had been in talks with the Spanish club for over a month and has decided that a return to his homeland at this stage of his career would be the best move.
Unai Emery has already signed Kieran Tierney and could call upon Sead Kolasinac if necessary, thus Monreal has been deemed surplus to requirements.
The transfer comes as somewhat of a surprise for the Arsenal faithful, with many hoping Nacho would play his final game against bitter rivals Tottenham in the North London derby this Sunday.
However, it appears as if the defender has played his last game for the club after six years. The Gunners have been very active on the transfer market this summer, thus seeing to the departure of Monreal.
Prior to arriving at the club in 2016, Monreal had played for both Malaga and Osasuna and has appeared for Spain's national team a total of 22 times, scoring 1 goal.
