Manchester City rejected chance to sign Philippe Coutinho

Manchester City are reported to have turned down the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
The Brazil international was linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur but ultimately a deal never materialised before the Premier League transfer deadline.
Coutinho has since linked up with Bayern Munich on loan with the option for a permanent deal but TV3 claims that things could have paved differently for the attacker.
As per the outlet, it is revealed that the Citizens were actually offered the chance to sign the former Internacional graduate but manager Pep Guardiola decided against the move.
The Citizens witnessed Leroy Sane suffer a serious knee injury prior to the English transfer deadline but they opted against pursuing a new recruit to bolster the attack.
Manchester City have made a good beginning to the current Premier League campaign and they are presently two points off Liverpool at the top of the standings.
