Eddie Nketiah explains reasons for Arsenal departure
Forward Eddie Nketiah - who swapped Arsenal for a loan transfer move to Leeds United - has explained the reasons why he opted to swap the Gunners for a move north. Nketiah has scored 3 goals in 5 games for the Elland Road outfit since making a temporary loan switch.
It is understood that Arsenal manager Unai Emery wanted to keep hold of the striker for the season ahead; but Nketiah decided it would be preferrable to garner more experience elsewhere.
"The manager wanted me to stay so it’s really confidence-boosting for me that he had me in his plans," Nketiah told the Mail. "I felt like it was a good step for me to come to Leeds.
"I hope it’s a good year that can leave me in good stead going back to Arsenal to fight for a place.
"There were a lot of options, there were options for me to go to Germany but me, my family and the club decided Leeds was the best place."
The striker has attracted the attentions of multiple clubs since his impressive loan move began and it is understood Arsenal are considering a first-team place for the youngster next season.
