Chelsea open contract talks with 21-year-old star
Chelsea have reportedly opened contract talks with striker Tammy Abraham following his impressive beginning to the current season under Frank Lampard.
The 21-year-old had spent the past three seasons on loan away from the club and the previous campaign saw him contribute an impressive tally of 26 goals in the Championship for Aston Villa.
As such, Blues boss Lampard decided to integrate into the first-team setup for the current season and the move has paid dividends with Abraham finding a rich vein of form recently.
Abraham, who has scored seven goals in his past three Premier League games, has three more years remaining on his current contract worth £50,000-a-week.
However, the Blues seem intent on committing him to a new long-term deal and they are prepared to double his wages following his sublime start to the campaign, The Guardian reports.
Abraham made his Champions League debut during the recent clash against Valencia but he was not able to continue his scoring streak as the Blues succumbed to a 1-0 defeat.
