Arsenal legend singles out Chelsea midfielder for praise
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has heaped praise on midfielder Mason Mount following Chelsea's Premier League triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 20-year-old only made his breakthrough for the Blues at the beginning of the season but he has already an impact with three assists in the Premier League alone.
Against Brighton, Mount was a constant attacking threat from the number 10 role but his teammates could not make the most out of his distribution during the course of the game.
Still, the England international made the difference by winning the penalty which led to the opening goal and the Blues eventually sealed a 2-0 triumph over Graham Potter's side.
Speaking in the Match of the Day programme, Wright praised the young attacker, who has taken his chance under Frank Lampard, he told: “He’s taken the opportunity, Frank’s shown a lot of faith in him.
"They did create a lot of chances today, I thought they wasted a few of the chances. But Mason Mount, he’s somebody that is making a difference, especially in this area of the field."
Chelsea's win over Brighton sees them on 11 points after seven league games. They are presently sitting in the sixth position but one of Arsenal or Manchester United could leapfrog them after the Monday night clash.
