Manchester United suffer fresh midfield injury blow

McTominay out for nearly four weeks with ankle injury

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has reportedly suffered an ankle injury which is likely to sideline him for the next five games at the least.

The Scotland international recovered from an ankle problem to face Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend, where the Red Devils picked up a 3-1 win.

However, he happened to sustained another ankle injury against the Seagulls and that is now expected to keep him out of action for the next four weeks, The Mirror reports.

United have a testing schedule after the international break and they have games against Sheffield United and Aston Villa before tackling Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City back-to-back.

Apart from McTominay, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are also on the sidelines but the latter has been tipped to return following the current international break.

United jumped to the seventh spot on the table following the weekend win over Brighton but they are still playing catchup to the top four with a nine-point deficit.
