Manchester United are reportedly confident of pursuing the signature of Erling Braut Haaland from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.

The Norwegian has netted 28 goals from just 22 appearances this term and that has included seven goals in the Champions League group stage.

Haaland has been tipped to decide on his next move at the turn of the year and The Mirror claims that the Red Devils are optimistic of landing his services.

It is added that they are prepared to pay as much as £76m for the former Molde youngster and are willing to loan him back to Salzburg for the rest of the season.

Haaland is said to want assurances of a regular starting role with his next club and it remains to be seen whether the player will accept the advances from the Red Devils.

Anthony Martial has been the first-choice striker for the Red Devils this term but the likes of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have also impressed upfront when the Frenchman was out injured.
