Arsenal confident of keeping hold of main striker
Arsenal are reportedly confident that they will be able to convince Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to pen a new contract, once Mikel Arteta takes charge at the club.
The Spaniard is expected to succeed Unai Emery as the next Gunners boss in the coming hours and he is scheduled to hold talks with some of the key players, who are said to be assessing their futures.
According to The Sun, the north London giants are confident that the appointment of Arteta as the new head coach will lead to Aubameyang signing a new and improved deal.
Aubameyang has shown no intention of extending his contract over the past six months and there has been the speculation that he could be sold when he enters the final year of his deal next summer.
The standoff has partly resulted from the club's poor run of form in the Premier League since the final weeks of the previous campaign and the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to be tracking the player's situation.
