Liverpool to swoop for Nigerian forward?

Liverpool are understood to hold an interest in signing Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen following his impressive displays for the French outfit Lille this season.

The 21-year-old only made the move to Lille from Charleroi during the summer and he has since contributed 13 goals from just 24 games in all competitions.

As a result, he has attracted plenty of interest from Europe's elite and the Reds are said to be among the clubs, who could make a future approach for his signature.

According to The Express, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is determined to land the services of the former Wolfsburg man but a deal could be delayed until the end of the season.

Lille are unlikely to sanction a mid-season deal for their prized asset, given the forward remains a key player for them in their quest to finish in the top-three in Ligue 1 and qualify for next season's Champions League.

Liverpool have already confirmed the capture of Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg and the Japanese attacker is expected to officially join the club as soon as the transfer window reopens.
