Fernandes back on United radar

Manchester United reportedly reopened talks with Sporting Lisbon over a potential winter move for Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The 25-year-old was touted to join the Red Devils last summer but they decided against making a move after learning of the £60m plus asking price.

However, following mid-season injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finds himself in a compulsion to recruit a new midfielder and Fernandes is apparently back on the radar.

According to O Jogo, the Red Devils are planning a fresh approach for the former Sampdoria man and they could be prepared to meet Sporting's valuation this time around.

Fernandes recently penned a new long-term deal with Sporting until the summer of 2023 and that puts the Portuguese side in a strong position to reject any bids at the current stage of the campaign.

Aside from Fernandes, United also have their sights on Donny van de Beek from Ajax but the Netherlands international seems more keen on a move to Real Madrid in either January or at the end of the season.
