Frank Lampard drops transfer update before deadline
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has stated that the club are unlikely to make any signing before the 11pm transfer deadline on Friday night.
The Blues have made no purchases during the course of the transfer window and it appears that they are unlikely to sign anyone before the deadline.
Speaking in a press conference, Lampard revealed that the transfer window is 95 percent closed for the Blues and he does not expect any movement in or out of the club.
"The window is probably 95 per cent shut for us and no ins means no outs. I know there are hours left of it but the answer would be no to most of the players we’ve been linked with," he told.
Olivier Giroud was expected to head through the exit door in the quest for regular playing time ahead of Euro 2020 but he is set to face disappointment with the club unable to land a replacement.
The Blues were eyeing a deal for Dries Mertens, which would have permitted Giroud's departure. The Belgian has, however, rejected the move to remain with Napoli for the rest of the campaign.
