Man Utd sign Nigerian striker on deadline day
Manchester United have reportedly signed Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo, according to Goal.com.
The report states that the United have signed Ighalo on a loan deal from the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua for the remainder of the season.
United were linked with a swarm of strikers including the likes of Slimani, Dries Mertens, Josh King, Teemu Pukki before the Nigerian appeared on their transfer agenda. The Red Devils looked desperate to find a short term replacement for injured Marcus Rashford, who has been arguably their best player this season.
The ex-Watford man has scored 10 goals in the recently concluded Chinese Super League campaign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also gave his verdict on the 30-year-old stating that he would bring a different dimension to the centre-forward role. The Norwegian manager also lauded Ighalo’s experience and professionalism.
The signing of Ighalo marked united’s second successful raid in the January transfer window following the acquisition of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting CP.
Solskjaer’s man will face Wolves in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday.
