Manchester United and Chelsea could go on a potential bidding battle to land the signature of Moussa Dembele from Lyon in the summer.

Dembele was the subject of a transfer bid from the Blues in January but Les Gones rejected the offer by stating that he won't be sold at the midway stage of the campaign.

According to The Mirror, United have joined the pursuit of the former Celtic man and they could go head-to-head with the Blues to sign the versatile French forward.

Dembele is said to be valued at around £60m and his price may possibly rise further with the above-mentioned Premier League clubs said to be desperate to land a new striker in the summer.

The 23-year-old has contributed 38 goals since his move to Les Gones in 2018. Out of those, he has netted 18 times this term where his side are seven points behind the Champions League places in the league.

United were able to land Odion Ighalo on loan from Shanghai Shenhua before the transfer deadline last month but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on a high-profile signing to bolster the strikeforce ahead of next season.

The Blues, on the other hand, could part ways with both Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi at the end of the campaign. They are determined to pursue a one top-class striker, who can compete with Tammy Abraham.
