Real Madrid star Luka Modric could make way for Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar in a swap deal in the summer.

Los Blancos are reportedly interested in the Slovak defender, who has been at the heart of the defence for Antonio Conte this season.

According to Daily Star, Nerazzurri could demand Modric in return from the La Liga giants should they decide to let Skriniar off the hook in the summer.

The 24-year-old has become one of the prominent centre-backs in the Serie A and is also on the transfer radar of Manchester City, who are looking for defensive reinforcements.

Elsewhere in Spain, Modric’s importance has dwindled this season following the revelation of Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan midfielder has moved higher up the pecking order of Zinedine Zidane.

Furthermore, Madrid have been linked with the likes of Donny van de Beek, Paul Pogba and Marcelo Brozovic, who are all tipped to take the place of the ageing Croatian.

Los Blancos are currently leading the La Liga table, three points clear of their arch-rivals Barcelona.
